Semantic Indexing just better search? A smarter search.
As i mentioned, keep yours eyes wide and your brains tickled because the topic at hand MAY change numerous aspects of Marketing and Website promotions (”and a whole lotta stuff“).
LSWHAT?
LSI or Latent semantic indexing will cause many sites to move in rankings, being another part of the SE’s infamous algorithms. LSI will permit a search engine to see MORE than a simple search query, and deliver more colourful and perhaps suggestive results. Centered around LSA, Latent Semantic Analysis, a method in natural language analysis, LSI is a Search engine algorithm.
Latent semantic indexing broken down means:
Latent: applies to a power or quality that has not yet come forth but may emerge and develop applies to a power or quality that has not yet come forth but may emerge and develop
Semantic: of or relating to meaning in language
What exactly is LSI?
Hence LSI is the discovery of how new, developed formats of language is used and how to apply it to search.
At present even a handful of self-declared Search engine “experts” don’t know about LSI. Some declare it a myth, others dismiss exploring the algorithm because of its complex structure and cloudy definition. LSI is here to, if i may say, revolutionise the WWW and skyrocket the way Search is carried out. LSI is centered on the usage of keywords and words positioning and formations to give SE’s like Google a concise idea of what the author is conveying. This will aid in ranking for keywords not only centered around the page, but closely related to the page’s material.
Let me give you an illustration
Let’s say for the search term “tennis”, the LSI algorithm will search word related such as tennis rackets, Wimbledon, maria sharapova, etc. This will in turn increase relevancy in search results and decrease SE spam. So from then on, it’s pretty clear that stuffing your page with nonsensical keywords would be ignored. Currently LSI and LSA has gathered conflicting opinions in the SEO world, some saying it’s chalked with speculation and some saying it will greatly help in Search engine rankings.
LSI-Latent semantic indexing will dig deep into the character strings of sites and pages, comparing them with text on your site and query them against a large database of words, thereafter informing Google of the correct or real meaning of your text. In layman terms, as a speculator, you will have to posses the large database of words the Search Engine programmers have to exploit and predict winning the algorithm, as LSI analyses keywords with relation to how other words in the text are weighted. This is of course taken from a statistical analysis of other related sites.
Integrating LSI into your site/copy
So how should we start if i may say “explot” LSI? Implement it into your site/pages. We all know the pain of SEOing every page on your site optimally to get at best rankings as possible. Well, Semantic indexing will now serve well webmasters who have painstakingly used real useful content and written natural material instead of tediously analysing keyword weights and densitys and “blahblahblah”. We all know the effectiveness of SEO and the effects it can do to an proactive online campaign. Organisations and sprouting companies who utilise BPO (Business process outsourcing) are taken in higher favour with regard to marketing trends.
“Applied Semantics” formerly called Oingo utilised LSI and LSA to determine the true meaning of text, and created a querying system to analyse the relation of page material for specific advert placement. “Applied Semantics” named this “Adsense”. Google did not develop Adsense, they bought Adsense in April 03.
Reveal the semantics of your page by using contextually related words and let the algoritms understand the meaning of your words, where your words could have more than one meaning. Like how SEO has an “art” and “science” aspect, semantic web has two aspects too. I will refer you to a press release by Amit Kumar, Director of Product Management at Yahoo!Search, where he wrote about Semantic Web standards. Here RDF and Microformats standards are discussed on their implementation into Semantic standards.

[...] Many areas of the posts brought me back to the post in which i wrote about semantic search and how the search engines are shifting to LSI (Latent Semantic Indexing) - which goes beyond retrieving exactly what a searcher queried in a Robotic fashion.
